What is art therapy

Art therapy is the connection of two fields, art and psychology. It is a symbolic language of expressing emotions and experiences.

Art therapy is an experiential process that offers a safe way to accomplish spiritual tranquility and harmony. It relies on the power of art expression and allows the emotional connection and a possible problem resolution in manners that words are no longer needed - extralinguistic, non-verbal manners.

The creation of images, during art therapy, may be a relieving process helping us to genuinely express ourselves and manage stress providing us with ways to solve our problems. It offers a sense of liberation from intense feelings, relief from traumatic experiences or losses, from pain and other physical symptoms,    strengthening health and wellness.

Drawing and painting allows children and adults to reproduce an image of the world as they experience it and then it provides the opportunity to transform and rectify.
