Group art therapy aims at supporting individuals to express emotions, problems or conflicts, acquiring empathy and processing and dealing with painful emotions and experiences.
During the therapeutic process emphasis is placed upon the work of art on either the basis of the individual or of the team. Nonetheless, whichever path is chosen, the group dynamic is expressed through the interaction of the team members and their works of art.
The creation of group works of art allows for social interaction which is associated with health and wellness. Sharing common experiences in art therapy reduces isolation and strengthens communication.
